As part of Safer Internet Day 2017 we invited former police detective Teresa Hughes, who specialises in online safety, into school to deliver workshops to the children.
They asked questions which concerned them during the sessions and also learnt about the dangers when using the internet. Social media can provided a big concern when using the internet and with children using sites such as Snapchat and Instagram, these workshops provide them with the information on what to do if they see images or posts which upset or concern them.
These sessions are very informative and help the children to understand that while the internet is a marvellous resource tool and very beneficial to our society today, it also can be dangerous. The children always have lots to say and input into the discussions and find the workshop very interesting.
