The St Joseph’s School Council is responsible for suggesting positive ways in which the school could be improved or developed. Each class in the school has two members on the School Council who have been elected by their classmates. It is the role of the School Councillors to represent the views of their classmates and to communicate ideas for school improvement from all of the children in their class to the staff members at St Joseph’s through the School Council meetings. Over the past few years, amongst many other achievements, our School Council have provided new equipment for the playground, decided the theme of our Advent Project and designed their very own menu of ‘School Favourites’ which will be served in the school at lunch times.
Our Green Team at St Joseph’s is responsible for ensuring that our school is an environmentally friendly site and that our routines and practices do not impact negatively upon our wider environment. Each class in the school has one member on the Green Team who was selected based upon their Green Team project which they completed in the autumn term. In the past, our Green Team have planted flowers around the school, designed our roof top garden and refined our whole school recycling practices amongst many other accomplishments.
