Year 6 are on the home straight but that didn’t spoil their spirits as they sailed through their last full day.
Morning activities consisted of Leap of Faith, Buggy Building and Exploring Mini Beats. Buggy Building challenged the children to make their own vehicle out of barrels, wood and rope. This activity challenged the children to work as a group in order to devise a plan of action, and put all the parts together. Exploring Mini Beats was a fitting activity for children as they noticed many more insects here than at home in London. With it being a wooded area and open fields, this was always going to be the case!
After lunch, children took part in Fencing and 3G Swing. The latter was a firm favourite of the week and they certainly found it exhilarating. 3G consists of a huge swing that drops from up to 20 feet in the air! Fencing gave the children the opportunity to test themselves to participate in a sport that they wouldn’t usually. They were taught how to defend and attack and enjoyed sparring at the end.
After an end of week trip reflection, the children ate their dinner before the Scrapheap Challenge activity. Their final evening activity of the week required them to make outfits out of cardboard – they then had to go down the catwalk displaying their completed outfits.
Heroes of the day:
Ms Figuerao: Archie P for his excellent behaviour and patience during morning activities.
Miss Bates and Mrs Mchaki: Bradley for having a great day, participating in all activities and applying himself 100%. From finding bugs, buggy building and completing the leap of faith.
Ms Oye: Chisom for working extremely well as part of a team and his fencing ability; his instructor said he had an excellent posture and technique. He also had a smile throughout the day.
Mr Humm: Ruby for leading by example with her impeccable behaviour and attention to detail in all the activities.
Quote of the day goes to Kezili for saying, ‘Trust the process’ when inspiring his team during buggy building.
The children are looking forward to their final morning and return to see their families.
