Here at St. Josephs, we celebrated poetry week by having fantastic Poet Rachel Piercey come to visit us on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th October. Rachel Piercey writes poems for Primary age children, encouraging a love of language and storytelling, on a wide range of themes such as: mythical characters, history, feelings, friendships, animals and much more. All of our classes were lucky enough to have a poetry workshop with Rachel, where she inspired the children to use their imaginations and express themselves through creating their own poetry around the theme of ‘choices’. The pupils of St. Joseph’s had an excellent time and especially enjoyed listening to a selection of Rachel’s very own poems!
