Today, Reception came dressed ready for a banquet fit for a King and Queen! All children were referred to as Lord and Lady throughout the day! As part of their topic on Castles, the children have been learning about banquets – what they used to eat and the entertainment. They were able to invite one adult to come to the banquet. The children spent the morning making their own pastry to make jam tarts, then spent the afternoon making sandwiches for the banquet. The children and their family were then able to enjoy the delicious treats at the feast! Over the last two weeks, they have been learning a medieval dance, which was shared with the parents. The children even got their family members up and they all joined in with the dance! The entertainment consisted of the children singing to their family. After this, there was an opportunity for them to share their non-fiction castle books that they have been writing (not a typical part of a medieval banquet entertainment but they have been working extremely hard to produce the books and were excited to share them)!
It is fantastic when the children are able to see their learning in real life.
