The debating club is run by Miss Anderson, an experienced member of the St Joseph’s staff. The club focuses on developing the children’s oracy skills, critical thinking, confidence and communication. At the extra-curricular club, they learn how to evaluate two sides of a question, construct a reasoned argument and to present their views as part of a formal debate. This club also furthers the children’s understanding of democracy and gives them the opportunity to engage with current affairs and historical issues at an age-appropriate level.
