St Joseph – The Worker
Our school, is named after the patron, Saint Joseph – The Worker. St. Joseph, was a descendant of the house of King David. He was the husband of Mary and his life is recorded in the Gospels. St. Joseph, the carpenter and foster father of Jesus, is but one example of the holiness of human labour. St. Joseph was declared patron of the universal Church by Pope Pius IX in 1870.
We partake in the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker celebrations on May 1st. We mark this in school by celebrating his remarkable example as a hard-worker, his dedication, truth and integrity. These are values we try to instil in our children, here at St Joseph’s.
