Yesterday, the children challenged themselves to walk 1 mile around the playground in our Big Lent Walk. The children were sponsored by friends and family to complete the walk to raise money for CAFOD’s Lent appeal and The Catholic Children’s Society. Any money raised is going to be shared equally between the two charities. Events such as these, are a central pillar of Catholic Social Teaching and children’s wider understanding of the impact they can have on their community, beyond the school. There were smiling faces as the children walked / ran around the playground. As they completed the walk, the children were singing, ‘Walking in the Light of God’. This reminded them as to why they were walking the mile; to help those who are in need in our world.
